Woonsocket is a city in Providence County, Rhode Island. It is located about 15 miles north of Providence, Rhode Island, and about 55 miles southwest of Boston, Massachusetts. The population of the city was 41,186 at the 2010 census, making it the sixth largest city in the state. Woonsocket lies directly south of the Massachusetts state line and is part of the Providence metropolitan area. The city is home to a variety of local attractions, including the Museum of Work and Culture, which documents the history of the city’s industrial past.
