Exeter

Exeter is a small rural town located in Washington County, Rhode Island. It is situated on the north side of the Pawcatuck River, about 18 miles south of Providence. The town is bordered by Richmond to the north, South Kingstown to the east, West Greenwich to the south, and Hopkinton to the west. The population of Exeter was 6,425 at the 2010 census.Exeter is home to various attractions, such as the historic John Waterman Arnold House, the Exeter Historical Society, and the Exeter Public Library. The town is also home to the Arcadia Management Area, a large tract of land that is managed by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management for recreational activities. The town also hosts a weekly farmer’s market every Saturday from June through October. Exeter also has many small businesses, including several restaurants and retail stores.
